Sikhism - Brotherhood of Sikhs with Hindus

In India you will see that every religion lives with peace and harmony. There is no conflict or violence in any religion. Sikhs and Hindus are one example among all other religions. Sikhs and Hindus are living in harmony from the very beginning. Hinduism and Sikhism are Indian religions. Hinduism has prehistoric origins, while Sikhism was founded in the 15th century by Guru Nanak. Both religions share many philosophical concepts such as Karma, Dharma, Mukti, Maya although both religions have different interpretations of some of these concepts. During the Mughal Empire period, the Sikh and Hindu traditions believe that Sikhs helped protect Hindus from Islamic persecution, and this caused martyrdom of their Guru.

The Sikh historians, for example, record that the Sikh movement was rapidly growing in northwest India, and Guru Tegh Bahadur was openly encouraging Sikhs to, "be fearless in their pursuit of just society: he who holds none in fear, nor is afraid of anyone, is acknowledged as a man of true wisdom", a statement recorded in Adi Granth 1427. While Guru Tegh Bahadur influence was rising, Aurangzeb had imposed Islamic laws, demolished Hindu schools and temples, and enforced new taxes on non-Muslims. According to records written by his son Guru Gobind Singh, the Guru had resisted persecution, adopted and promised to protect Kashmiri Hindus.

The Guru was summoned to Delhi by Aurangzeb on a pretext, but when he arrived with his colleagues, he was offered, "to abandon his faith, and convert to Islam". Guru Tegh Bahadur and his colleagues refused, and he and his associates were arrested, tortured for many weeks. The Guru himself was beheaded in public. Sikh regiment is the highest decorated regiment of the Indian Army and in 1979, the 1st battalion was the Commonwealth's most decorated battalion with 245 pre-independence and 82 post-independence gallantry awards, when it was transformed into the 4th battalion, Mechanised Infantry Regiment.

Sikhs have been contributing in India since Tegh Bahadur Singh’s time. They are doing various works for the poor people and also have some organisations under which they provide food, clothes and medicines. In almost every Gurudwara they provide a langar where everyone can have one meal. Sikhs also provide self defence programs to the youth for the safety and security. In this country everyone is living with happiness and prosperity.
