The caretaker government of Pakistan is making preparations to send more than 1.1 million Afghan nationals, who are currently residing in Pakistan without legal documentation, back to Afghanistan, according to sources cited by WION. This decision was approved during a meeting of the caretaker cabinet on September 26 in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
Pakistan shares a border with Afghanistan, but this border is mostly open, allowing for unrestricted movement of people between the two countries. This porous border has enabled terrorist elements from Afghanistan to frequently cross into Pakistan, establishing their presence in regions that have become known as havens for terrorists.
This recent decision by the caretaker cabinet is a response to the influx of approximately 600,000 Afghans into Pakistan following the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan. Among these, around 400,000 are residing in Pakistan without legal status.
