Hindu-Muslim riots are not a new thing in India, it has been happening before independence and is still going on. We have heard of many riots of Hindu-Muslims, where Hindus were killed in uncountable numbers.
Noakhali Riots is one of them, which has been written boldly in the history of India. Noakhali region is a part of old Bangladesh, which is popularly known as East Pakistan. Hindus are the most suffered religion among the other religions because Muslims always abuse Hindus in all forms.
The massacre of Hindus in Noakhali region started on 10th October, on the auspicious day of Kojagori Laxmipuja, which is a famous Bengali festival celebrated right after Durga puja or Dussehra.
The massacre started in 1946, a year before India got its independence. It is estimated that the riot continued one week and cost the lives of thousands of Hindus. It is noted that more than 5000 people were killed in the riot, hundreds of Hindu women were raped and more than thousands of both Hindu men and women were forcefully converted into Islam.
Those who survived in the riot, were sheltered in the relief camps in Comilla, Chandpur, Agartala and other places.
