Jains compelled to relocate ancient temple idols due to rising Muslim population

A peculiar situation has arisen in western UP where Lord Chandraprabhu is being forced to leave a Jain temple that has stood for 500 years. This incident takes place in a former Jain-dominated village located in the Budhana tehsil of Muzaffarnagar district. In the past, the village was primarily inhabited by Jains, but due to changes in the demographics, it has become a Muslim-dominated area.

Due to a series of murders and robberies in Hussainpur Kalan village, the villagers have been compelled to migrate to a different location. The only remnants of the community are the 500-year-old Jain temple and the statues of Lord Chandraprabhu.

The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that the Jain community is now relocating the statues of Lord Chandraprabhu Samosharan ji from Hussainpur to Muzaffarnagar. Not only were the members of the Jain community displaced from Hussainpur Kalan, but the eighth Tirthankara of the Jain sect, Lord Chandraprabhu, also had to be displaced.

The reason behind this displacement is the increasing Muslim population in the village. As the Muslim population grew in Hussainpur Kalan, Hindus and Jains gradually began leaving the village. Eventually, only the statue of Lord Chandraprabhu remained in the village. No one had anticipated that they would have to flee their own village when the Muslim population increased.

The village of Hussainpur Kalan is home to the ancient Jain temple of Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Bhagwan, which has a history of 500 years. The temple is situated five kilometers away from Budhana town and houses a total of 11 statues, including the main idol of Chandraprabhu. Three of these statues are of great antiquity.
