Explosions and gunfire within the Muslim residence at Allahabad University caused a significant stir. Asif Iqbal, a student occupying room number 11, was subjected to bombing and gunfire following an altercation with his roommate. Luckily, he managed to narrowly escape the attack. Law enforcement personnel from various police stations, including Colonelganj, swiftly arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough search operation within the dormitory. During the search, authorities uncovered two handguns and a total of 30 crude explosive devices. Subsequently, a legal case has been filed against 11 young men based on the complaint lodged by Asif and Inspector Brijesh Singh. Intensive searches are currently being conducted to apprehend the suspects. It's worth noting that Sadakat Khan, who was involved in a plot to harm Umesh Pal and his security personnel, also resided in this dormitory.
Asif Iqbal, hailing from Dildarnagar Ghazipur, is a student pursuing his undergraduate studies at Allahabad University. He resides in room number 11 of the Muslim dormitory. According to his account, a dispute erupted between him and his roommate Jalal Akbar on a Friday. Following this disagreement, a group including Alamin Ahmed, Sarfaraz, Arbaaz, Sameer, Mubassir Harun, Intakhabul Mukhtar, Khalid Noman, Obada, Obaid, Mohd. Ashfaq, and Qasim Rehman physically assaulted him. As he attempted to flee while raising alarm, Mubassir and Obada threw an explosive device at him, aiming to cause harm. Gunshots were also fired at him, with one bullet grazing his side. The assailants then proceeded to detonate another bomb near him.
This incident incited fear among the residents of the dormitory. The police swiftly arrived at the scene, but the individuals responsible for the attack had managed to escape. Collaborating with the dormitory superintendent, Dr. Irfan Ahmed, law enforcement initiated a comprehensive search operation, ultimately discovering two handguns and 30 explosive devices. Asif pressed charges for the assault, while Inspector Brijesh Singh registered a case at the Colonelganj police station regarding the seizure of the firearms and explosives.
The Muslim dormitory has frequently attracted attention due to various issues. Instances of unauthorized occupants being evicted and rooms being vacated have occurred in the past, though some were subsequently reassigned. Law enforcement suggests that the purpose behind hoarding numerous firearms and explosives within the dormitory will be unveiled once the suspects are apprehended. The university administration is also providing assistance to facilitate the apprehension of the culprits.
Room number 57, allotted to Mubassir Harun from Derwa, Pratapgarh, and room number 35, assigned to a resident of Prayagraj, have been associated with the recovery of a handgun and explosives. Both individuals disposed of the handgun and fled before the search operation commenced. Mubassir Khan also faces charges related to attempted murder and is known for his criminal tendencies.
