A Dalit woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by a Muslim man who concealed his true identity and pretended to be a Hindu in Lucknow. The accused allegedly drugged the survivor's cold beverage and sexually assaulted her, while also recording the incident. Subsequently, he used this recording to blackmail her, threatening to disseminate the video.
According to the survivor's account to the authorities, she had encountered the accused, Shoaib, six years ago, when he presented himself as a Hindu named Saurabh and established a friendship with her. As their relationship grew, the survivor expressed her desire for Shoaib to meet her family for marriage purposes, but he repeatedly avoided it by making various excuses.
On the day of the incident, when the survivor was alone, Shoaib visited her residence and administered a cold drink spiked with sedatives. He then sexually assaulted her and documented the act. It was only when the survivor discovered Shoaib's true identity that he began to threaten her with the exposure of the video, using it as leverage for blackmail.
Shoaib went so far as to issue threats, including the possibility of harm to both the survivor and her family, should she decide to report the incident to the police.
