According to a report from the Times of India, a 20-year-old man named Raj Kumar was killed in the Zakira region of Delhi by family members of a girl he was in an interfaith relationship with. The incident occurred on July 2, and the accused individuals, Ashfaq and Meraj, were later arrested after the police investigated the case and reviewed CCTV footage.
The victim was stabbed multiple times and had his throat slit, resulting in his immediate death. The murder initially went unsolved as the victim's identity was unknown. However, the police examined CCTV cameras in the area and used their networks to gather clues, eventually confirming the identities of the suspects.
DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi stated that on July 3, a man's body was discovered near a park in Inderlok, north of Delhi. The body, buried in the bushes, appeared to belong to a male aged between 20 and 22, but no phone or documents were found nearby.
Upon filing an FIR for murder, two teams were formed to solve the case. One team focused on identifying the deceased, while the other searched for leads and potential suspects. Lack of CCTV cameras near the crime scene posed a challenge, so the police meticulously examined footage from all entry and exit points in the vicinity.
Eventually, the deceased was identified as Raj Kumar, originally from Araria, Bihar, who had previously lived in north Delhi. A video taken nearby also captured the movements of the two suspects.
The police utilized their information network and shared their findings with all units involved in the investigation. Finally, a tip-off provided the identity of the duo. The suspects admitted to authorities that Kumar was involved in a relationship with a close relative of Ashfaq, which upset them and motivated them to eliminate him. They lured the victim to the Shehzada area on July 2 under the pretense of resolving some issues, where they brutally murdered him.
