Gandhi on women empowerment

Mahatma Gandhi had always supported women both morally and physically. Gandhi always stood for women and always suggested women should be independent in her life. He has also written many books on women empowerment which will empower women. He talked about equality of sexes where both men and women should have equal rights irrespective of their gender. Marriage in Indian society is one of the most talked about topics and was also talked about by Gandhi.

Women are the worst sufferers when it comes to a bad marriage. Gandhi prioritised that women also should have equal respect in a marriage like the one he respected his wife. Another system in marriage is the dowry system. Dowry system is still prevalent in most of the parts of India but Gandhi emphasised that the dowry system should be demolished but sadly it is still prevalent.

Widow marriage, in many rural areas of India girls get married to a man double or triple their age which results in the man dies and the girl becomes a widow. So Gandhi decided that those girls should get remarried so that they can live their life happily. Giving respect to women was one of the top most priority of Gandhi, he never disrespected any women nor he allowed any men to disrespect any women.

Education can change society and if a woman gets educated she can change the whole generation. So Gandhi gave emphasis on women education, he even made many schools where girls could get educated. In many parts of rural India, people believe that giving birth to a baby boy is the ultimate thing and in that process people give birth to more than 2 children. Gandhi gave emphasis on birth control so that the population could get control and the women might get less suffering. Gandhi’s vision was very clear, he wanted India a beautiful place to live for both men and women. Let’s emphasise the Gandhian policy of women empowerment.
